Skye resonates with the echoes of Flora MacDonald who in 1746, helped the then fugitive Bonnie Prince Charlie to safety, crossing from Uist to Skye before he boarded ship at Portree, never to return to Scotland.

There are fine walks for the energetic (and for the less so!), the best mountain scrambling in Scotland, kayaking, horse riding, cycling, the Talisker distillery and of course, salmon and trout fishing.
